ZSwitcher is a plug-in for ZBrush that will let you use a navigation style that is similar to other popular 3d applications.
If you're already happy using ZBrush the way it is, then ZSwitcher may not be for you. However, keep in mind that the ZBrush navigation style is unique to ZBrush. Although you're already familiar with it, there may come a time when you will want to use ZBrush alongside other 3D applications. Navigating your 3d view is something that you do so often that it can quickly become second nature. If you're accustomed to one method or style, idealy it would be nice to have that same exact method available in all of your 3d packages. Over the years, the Maya alt-centric navigation style has become the defacto standard. It has been adopted (either by default or as an optional preference) by virtually every popular 3d package including Maya, Mudbox, MotionBuilder, Blender, Headus UV Layout, Roadkill, Silo, GSI Studio, Endorphin, XSI, modo, Cinema 4D, and Unity 3d just to name a few. So it's safe to say that if you get familiar with the Maya style navigation, your transition to using other 3d packages will be a lot easier. Being familiar and comfortable in more 3d packages only makes you more versatile and valuable.
Sorry, but not yet. No promises, but we will be actively working on the developement of ZSwitcher for the Mac very soon. More information on this should be available by the beginning of next year. Stay tuned.
Yes, we tried it and didn't notice any issues.
We are still looking into adding a couple of other modes, most notably the default XSI and modo navigation styles. Please keep in mind that you can change most 3d applications to the Maya alt-centric navigation style. But since it might not be too hard to integrate other options, we will try to add them. Again, no promises or timetable.
Sorry, but this doesn't seem to be very likely. There might be some possibility in the future, but after looking into this further, it doesn't seem possible within ZBrush as a plug-in.
If you're using a Pen input device, you may have the Windows TabletPC service enabled. Here's how to disable it:

We have a few features we're still looking into adding, but we don't want to make any promises or give a time table for any of them until they are done and fully tested. To view our existing feature request list or to add your own feature request, please visit the
ZSwitcher discusion forum.
ZSwitcher is composed of just two files, one is the main plug-in file while the other is a ZScript file used primarily for the GUI. Both files are installed within your C:\Program Files (x86)\Pixologic\ZBrush 4.0\ZStartup\ZPlugs directory. Once installed, you should see a new entry in your Zplugin menu called ZSwitcher. All of the features within ZSwitcher should be active by default except for the Brush Size and Strengh features -- for those, you'll need to assign hotkeys. For more information on these techniques, see the
ZSwitcher YouTube overview video.
ZSwitcher should automatically be enabled and be ready to go. If that's not the case, please verify that it's enabled by finding the ZSwitcher SubPalette within ZBrush > Zplugin. If you need further assistance with any installation problems, let us know. We're more than happy to help.
